Since our phone is ex-d ( a hangover from my teaching days) and we're signed up to TPS (a central, government backed system whereby you can opt out of telesales and advertising calls) I simply tell them they're breaking the law by possessing it.

We get zero telesales calls these days- go figure! :o)
