Fun Night

Ho ho - had a fun night with the animals last night.

Earlier I'd cut my thumb with a really sharp knife. It hurt like hell and I bled everywhere until I could staunch the blood and get some band-aids on it. Changed my dinner plans to toast and baked beans, and had an early night. Anyway, later I just woke up with the thumb hurting - Pegasus on one side and Bobby on the other, and Ebony exploring. I couldn't get back to sleep, even after changing the band-aids, so I watched a couple of episodes of 5th season Angel in the lounge.

Then Gabby decided to come in. The two cats kept their distance and crooned at each other. Ebony is barely a year old, Gabby about six years, so Ebs was more worried by Gabby than the other way around. Gabby is a simple cat in some ways though. When I brought Ebs back on my shoulder into the lounge, gabby missed her entirely and continued to stare down the hallway into the front room. Eventually noticed, but I guess there's a bit of stress and tension there. They'll sort it - I hope!

Meanwhile, Bobby and Pegasus seem to have settled down. Peggy's not entirely happy that Bobby's here, but when Kevin gets back, their might be enough people to go around between them.

I didn't get back to sleep until 5:45am. Slept 'til 9am, and have been having fun with the animals (along the same lines) all morning.

Decided to take both Peggy and Bobby out for a walk tonight.

This is only the 2nd time they've been walked together. It was a little bit more coordinated than before, but not much. I was only planning a short walk, but Peggy had other ideas. He wanted to walk up Appletree Road and I was fine with that (and Bobs was enjoying it too).

However, midway up between Barnsley and Holmesville, someone started setting off fireworks somewhere near the sports park. Couldn't see the results due to the cloudy weather, but we could hear it. So could Peggy, and made an immediate detour down a bush track home.

I let Bobby off the leash and he stuck with us all the way home. Peggy was happy to get home, and both were out of breath. Ebony and gabby still seem to be playing "Cat and Cat", keeping their distance from one another. Ebs is more adventurous when Bobby's about.

Fun times. A good walk.

Apparently Saddam Hussein was executed yesterday (I missed the news last night).

Whether or not the trial was fair (and I think the outcome was never in doubt) I do not think that overall, the ex dictator will be missed by many. What I find interesting is the wide variety of reactions his death has brought. Not a great supporter of capital punishment, but in this case, like those of the Nuremberg trails after WWII, I think the sentence is warranted.

The mess that's Iraq, however, will continue with or without the bastard.
