Loud and Rowdy!
Jun. 27th, 2003 11:08 pmLast day of TAFE semester today. I was relieved just to get a break.
At night I went to "Loud and Rowdy!" at the Salar cafe. It was advertised as a "chick event" for PRIDE WEEK, and featured in the line-up: Joanna Leigh, Wendy Todd, Wendy Todd, Laura Seabrook (me), and Anousha Victoire. I read some of my poetry (which can be found at Prose & Poetry ) and ended it with a Shakespeare's Sister song called "Hello (Turn Your Radio On)". I've always been fascinated with this song which seems to epitomise the qualities of isolation and loneliness. I love some of the lines:
Not that what I read was all "cut your wrist" stuff. Funny, but the last time I did a public reading of my poetry was at a "Vogon Poetry Night" -- a faanish event back in the late 90s. Time flies...

and do i eat it with my hands or with my feet?
does anybody really listen when i speak
or will i have to say it all again next week
