I don't believe this -- the bloody car's backfired again!
I was on my way to do a "library run". That's where I'm returning books and browsing for new ones to read. There's two library systems, the University and TAFE libraries that I can borrow from, so this can be a big event.
Anyway, I'd washed my hair and made an effort to look nice (for once). I'd just been to Edgeworth Library and the Post Office across the road, and was driving up Minmi Rd in Edgeworth when it backfired again! I pulled over and when I looked at the damage I was really upset.
Not only had it backfired and blown the top of the air filter (as it "usually" does) but it'd also destroyed the plastic scoop above it! Oh well, nothing to do but have it towed.
As it happened, there was a van parked behind where I'd pulled over. The driver approached and I explained the situation. Guess what -- it transpires that he just bought a business in Edgeworth next to a auto LP gas place! Maybe it's the same one that the "uncle" told me about last Friday. maybe, maybe not, but really it doesn't matter.
He lent me his mobile phone and I called the NMRA for another tow. It was then that I discovered that I was missing my purse. Trying not to panic I requested the tow, and the good Samaritan went on his way. While I waited I search the car but found nothing. I guess I must have left it by accident in the Post Office.
The tow truck came and the car was soon on the back and I was being towed to the garage. Only, I wasn't sure of the address so we stopped at the Post Office where I checked, and also recovered my purse (whew).
When it got to the garage I arranged things. Turns out the owner doesn't have an uncle, but so what? This time the towing didn't cost me $20, and I can walk home as well. On the way I bought a chocolate bar and a vanilla coke.
Not happy about this.

Candle Magic
Jul. 17th, 2003 11:00 pmI've decided to use some candle magic on the car. I set things up the lounge -- asked for what I wanted: "Affordable repairs and the opportunity or means to visit Jayne on the weekend" -- and lit the candle and watched TV.
It took hours to burn down, but I feel confident that I'll get what I want. I tried not to let the earlier event stop me from centering either.
We'll see.
