Necropolis
Apr. 24th, 2005 04:47 pmI went to Necropolis last night with Sally (
fiery_ichor) , Kate (
agent_riotdot) and Karl (Sally's brother, and my friend from TAFE et al).

I had a good time overall. This is the first band night that Necropolis has had in a while, and the first since they moved venue from the Cambridge to The Lucky Country. The event wasn't at the lucky, however, but in the band room of the Leagues Club. This is upstairs from the main bar and overall, a nice venue.
Necropolis ran this as a joint event with Pretty & Twisted, a new fashion shop in Newcastle (177 King St, Newcastle). There was a fashion show, in two parts and some very nice stuff was paraded indeed. I wish I had the money (and the figure) to afford some of it. Nice on the eyes anyway.
I'm afraid I "lost it" for a bit when Sally asked how the ducks were. I'd lost a duckling yesterday, so it was bad timing. Mind you, it wasn't just the ducks -- I've been feeling down and depressed of late (nothing new) and it was just the tip of the iceberg. I a had a long cry on Sally's shoulder, and things got better.

The two bands playing were Thatch Noir (which I'd not heard of) and Immaculata, who I saw at an earlier. Still not sure I liked Thatch Noir's music, but they did seem to be energetic enough on stage. Afterwards Kate introduced me to Andy, who's in the band. I bought an Immaculata CD later (all dead here, which I haven't played yet), so you can tell what I think of their music!
The venue has this most amazing "powder room" in the ladies, which is all covered in mirrors. I want one in my home! Later I did a photo shoot with Kate and Avril forPretty & Twisted The Daisy Chain(or so they said), see below. Lots of fun.

Despite my foot, I danced to maybe a dozen songs, (after the bands were on). C'mon, it's hard not to dance to Oh Lucretia, especially after you were playing it earlier in the day. This was probably a mistake, since it started to get sore towards the end of the night. The whole thing finished about 1:30am, and rather than go pub crawling with Kate and Nicola (
bendiviolet), I gave them a lift to The Lucky and went home instead.
Despite the pain and the crying, a good night.
