It's 3 years over due, but I finally printed Hypergraphia #6 down at NUSA. By printing to A5 size, it cost a lot less than what I expected. Only 50 copies, but that's enough.

I've been feeling that ol' black dog nipping at me since the weekend, so I thought that it would be a good time to print it now. It'll be ready for the Zine Fair in October at This is Not Art.

Now maybe, I might thing about number Seven!

I've created two new journals:

  • Random Thoughts is about non-biographical stuff that's caught my eye (like software and stuff)
  • Sad Heart's Thoughts is a no-comment place where I can vent some of my angst and despair, when the Black Dog comes barking.
Befriend them if you want. No guarantees of regular or quality posting on either (not that you have that here).

jAlbum is an automated image gallery generator. It is also freeware, and runs under java.

I first came across jAlbum in 2003, when I needed to generate a set of baptism photo images for a friend. I wanted something that I could use to customise the results in the best possible way. At first I used Jasc Media Centre, but the version I had was (which came with the 10th anniversary edition of Paint Shop Pro that I purchased) a bit too primitive. Imagine my dissappointment when I discovered that Jasc had discontinued the product (no doubt why it was in the collection) and now had a separate (and commercial) product called Photo Album.

I did what I normally do in such circumstances - I looked around for a freeware alternative. I settled on jAlbum because it was a way for me to learn java and it seemed very configerable. I love designing templates and such. Back in early 2003 I was doing my TAFE library science course, and had a lot of spare time. I designed a few "skins" for the application.

David Ekholm, who develops the application, seems a really nice, but extremely busy, guy.
