Got annoyed with myself today when I lost my good umbrella.
I'd gone to Wallsend Library and found absolutely the right reference work on the Roman Army that I'd been looking for. Aftwards I waited outside for the bus, while reading a graphic novel version of
A Scanner Darkly (very weird shit based on
a Philip K Dick story).
Then when I got on the 101 bus I realised that I'd left the brolly at the bus stop. It was a $12 golf umbrella from NUSA. When I realised what I'd done (I'm notorius for losing umbrellas) I borrowed the phone at Jenn's and dialled the library. They went outside and checked but it was long gone.
Jenny gave me her fold-up umbrella, which was really nice of her. I still feel annoyed with myself for losing the thing. I must have lost dozens of the things over the years. Just don't have a strategy for holding on to them. I was carrying a backpack and a shoulder bag with drawing stuff in (I'm working on my web comic today at uni) and it's just awkward carrying the bloody thing about. When I bought it, I also got a bungee cord and it was easy to just snap that on the handle and the point, and carry it like a rifle - but I couldn't do that easily today.
* Sigh * Shit this sounds a but obsessive today. Mind you, if someone could invent a "snap on carry strap" for umbrellas, they might make a million. I've half a mind to get another one from NUSA, but maybe next week.
At least someone out there is dryer in this weather. *GRIN*
