I just walked home from Glendale.

I'd been there to watch the film eragon. I caught the bus there and got to Glendale 90 minutes early (it was either that or get there 20 minutes late). The only shops and places open there were: the cinemas; Hungry Jacks, MacDonalds and KFC; Video Easy; and Super Cheap Auto Parts. Everything else there was shut, as it was boxing day.

I amused myself by browsing through the Video Easy. Nothing much worth looking at or renting today. Got back to the cinema with 10 minutes to spare and watched the film. It came out just after 2pm, and the bus wasn't until 3:08pm, so I decided to walk to Edgeworth. It wasn't that hot today, and the exercise will do me good.

Walked the 3km to Edgeworth. the only things open were the pub and the video store. At 50c / week, I rented a pile of stuff, including Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (which I haven't seen yet). Walked the remaining 3km back to Barnsley via the bush shortcuts that I used to walk Pegasus.I know that some of this bush is up for sale, so it may not be around much longer to walk through.

Anyway, it was invigorating. there were a couple of BMX riders about but our paths didn't cross. Instead, I was surrounded by the sounds of millions of cicadas, all looking for mates in the cycle of their short lives. The shadows cast by the afternoon sun were wonderful.

I miss this sort of walk. Pegasus seldom goes bush walking with me now, other than the shortcut though the horse paddocks behind me home. Might walk him tomorrow morning.
