Jenny phoned yesterday afternoon asking if I'd look after Bobby and Ebony if she had to go into hospital. I asked her if she wanted me to come over that night and pick them up. She said no and that was the last I heard about it, until today.

I tried phoning all day but the land phone rang out and the mobile was switched off.finally, after 5pm, [livejournal.com profile] mycosysand I drove over (yes, I know the car's out of rego) to Jenn's. I packed the cat carry box and a few bags. We got there without incident. I noticed that as we walked up the pathway, there was no sound from inside. I pressed the doorbell.

It rang, and Bobby barked, then barked again. We waited. No response, and the Ebony appeared at the window. Then the neighbours told us that Jenn had been taken by ambulance to hospital late last night. We got the name of the hospital, and Jenn's mother's telephone number as well. Tried called her, but there was no answer. Kevin phoned the hospital, and we got the ward she was in. Drove there, and after a fiasco of trying to find somewhere to park, visited her.

Jenn looked thin, and was hooked up to a drip and had an oxygen mask in. She had a chest infection as a complication from flu, which I might have given her(though Kevin said she probably got it before I went over and coughed over her), I was so worried and then relieved and then worried and then relieved. At one point when I fed my pets, I thought she might have committed suicide, as she'd talked about (some time ago) doing just that before going into hospital.

Still, she seemed to be in good spirits, all things considered. Her mother is checking on and feeding Bobby and Ebs. This is probably for the best because although Bobby seems to be fretting, they're both in a familiar environment. Jenn might be in there for just a few days, but more likely a week. I left my phone number with her to pass on to her mother, in case they do need to be looked after. We left shortly afterwards, had chips for tea and I did some food shopping. Then back home.

I probably won't visit Jenn much in hospital, as I don't want to re-infect her. Just to know that she's under care is enough - for now.

Still, I have been very worried about her for a while. Sooner or later she will go into hospital for a much longer period, or die. I'm shit scared about that.

Just discovered a gem of a web strip called Doctor Faust. Here's a sample:
