Well, I marched with Amnesty International LGBT Network group last night in the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras parade.

Summing up
Overall, I enjoyed the march this year. Even so, I may not be marching next year at all. Not because marching with the group upsets me (as it has sometimes with the bi group in the past), but because I'm just not healthy enough for it.  And afterwards, it's just a big big "blank".

I bumped into Ben from Newcastle just after the march and got invited to a warehouse party in Cleveland street - but a) I'm  pretty sure I couldn't find it, and b) I I was just as stuffed, so wasn't that keen to go, just like Ascension. So, really, either way I was left by myself afterwards, with little idea about what to do other than go to Erica's and crash. And more or less, that's what it's been like for the last four Mardi gras.

Last year, after chatting with people, I made my way back to Central (with an acquaintance) and encountered drunks. The previous year after lugging my sports bag all the way up the march (because I couldn't get it stowed away like this year) I was physically hurt and no one seemed to care - all they wanted was to party. The previous two years I'd got lifts from people in the group to train stations and just come straight home. The year before that (2002?) I'd walked with Kali and afterwards we went to the Taxi Club (when I was still a member). This was fortuitous for her, as she met (standing next to us in the queue to get in) the very friends who'd first taken her there years ago! However, as it'd rained heavily that night, I spent most of the time there in the ladies loo trying to dry my top off with the air blower! Afterwards I came down with severe chest infection.

Gah - marching is great - afterwards not so. I must be getting old.
