Just paid my quarterly land rates of $188.90. Knocks out a big chunk of I have left after Power, water, phone and mortgage are paid. However, much as it would be nice to still get the $200 fortnightly rent, peace of mind is worth much more (and I just need to budget). I could have waited until next pay period and paid it then, but better now. I have end-of-month insurance payments due then. Last time around I forgot to phone and adjust it, since it was at a double rate to cover K & M's stuff (not fussed, my mistake). Better do that today.

A decision I was trying to make yesterday was whether to buy a microwave bracket or a new vacuum cleaner. My old cleaner had a wheel fall off when I started to use it after K & VM left. It still works only it gets dragged around a bit. K-Mart are selling ones with double the wattage (more sucking power, or does it just suck?) for $45. At the same time, I'm thinking of getting a wall bracket to hold my microwave on. This would improve use of space (either a rubbish bin or a toaster could go under it) and put at a better level to use. Right now the microwave got shifted so that I have an area to put the dishwashing, and it sits on a rickety table that is too low. In either case, I can wait until next pay period.

Not going to be short until next payday again, not if I can help it!

Well, I vote GREENS anyway, but what good will it do in a gerrymandered electorate. How is it gerrymandered? Well here's a map:

As you can see, the bulk of the population in this electorate is over a mountain range, about 50 km away! Ever so often I get a promo from the sitting member (Labor) saying that they intend to get the roads fixed and upgrading Cessnock Hospital. All very well but so what? If I get carted off by ambulance it will be to either John Hunter or La Mater hospitals in the Newcastle area. And as far as roads go, well with no car (and no direct bus service that I know of) that's pretty much irrelevant to me. The last time I visited Cessnock was many 2002.

Would much rather be back in Lake Macquarie electorate.

contacted the insurance company about payments. They'll be calling me back on this on Monday. I had to change things because a) I'm paying for coverage I don't need, and b) K & M are listed on the policy, and they no longer live here. Whew...

One by one, I'm getting  things done.

But (not that this has anything to do with insurance) , temperatures are back to bleaugh rating:
