Nov. 7th, 2011 06:35 pmI went into a computer store today to buy 1GB of DDR memory for the media PC. The guy there tried to argue that instead of spending $69 (I had expected a $39 price) on the memory (which was "outdated") that I should spend $300 to by a pre-built PC that didn't come with an OS, but had DDR3 memory and a 1 TB sata drive!
Now to me that's like going in to get a spare tyre and being told I should buy a new car! The $300 PC might actually be good value, but it wasn't what I wanted or could afford up-front. The media PC works, but just gets "congested" at times. Why replace it when I don't have to?
I went to another store in the same franchise and got 1GB of memory for $39. I can now double the memory it has :)
