Bobby's Accident
Aug. 14th, 2014 05:33 pmBobs has always been a dfog that likes to get up on things, like the back of sofas, beds, or desks and tables. I had comfy bed rigged for him on top of my drawing table in the Studio. By a cunning arrangement of steps build from storage boxes, and a ramp between a desk and a table, he was able to that bed. This was a good thing overall because I was in sight and if he wanted a cuddle he could approach me directly via a spare PC table. It sounds complicated but I've always had arrangements where he can sleep up off the ground if he wants, and he seems to like that. Anyway he woke up this afternoon and started scratching on the drawing table. He's partly blind in one eye and was too close to the edge, and fell off - straight onto the edge of a 20 litres plastic container! If he'd just fallen on the floor he'd be fine, but this hit him in the chest and he let out a shriek! I immediately went to pick him up and he let out va howl, so I put him down. He staggered outside and I realised I needed to follow him to see if he was OK (I let him out because he might have wanted to pee or poo after that). Then he disappeared.
I found him around the back of the house slowly trying to make a break for it, I knew he was trying to get through a small cap in the fence. I grabbed him, and he seemed in shock, so I took him inside and we laid on the sofa together with a blanket over us. But he didn't want to stay like that for long so I let him out, and found him trying to do the same thing. Then he went up the back and seemed to be confused, looking for holes under the fences that had been plugged up a while back. And the a Muscovy from next door got into my back yard and that confused everything. Brook came over with one of her sons and got it back, but it was all over the place. I was finally able to feed the pets though neither Bobs nor Theo ate what I put out. After some chopped uo coctail franks they settled down and, to my surprise, Bobs climbed back up to his bed!
I don't think he's actaully broken anything, otherwise he wouldn't be moving about, but I think he's bruised something badly. No walkies tomorrow, as he's barely walking at the moment. And I shall have to watch over him carefully.
