I've had the visual disturbances of a migraine in my sleep, superimposed upon dreams, and when I've woken, the visual disturbance has persisted and the migraine started. Nothing says 'bad day' like having a migraine start in your sleep.
I've tried all sorts of regimes for preventing migraines, and am currently on pizotifen (sandomigran), and it has worked!
There is a biochemical link between migraines and epilepsy, so it would be worth talking to your GP about this. The link may also explain why your migraine shares some characteristics of a seizure.
