Beaten by Timetables

Well, I almost went to Ascension tonight.

I hadn't planned to go. I happened to phone majickblackcat last week and she thought that Wake the Dead was on instead. It wasn't, and when I phoned back this morning she happened to mention that she was going to Ascension, and on I whim I decided to as well.

Only I stuffed up. I got ready too late and missed the train I ought to have caught. I thought I had enough time but was using an old timetable, and when I got there the train had left. The next train left an hour later, but would have got in at Central after midnight, and then I'd have to get to Enmore. I had figured out a route taking another train to Stanmore and walking back, and might have got to the club just before 1 am, but - well I thought better of it.

The idea of a round trip of 7-8 hours of travel, for maybe 3-4 hours of clubbing, just felt a bit unbalanced. If it'd been Wake the Dead, no problems, as I can take extra stuff there and not be worried about it, but the last time I'd been to Ascension it'd been standing room only (and I'd freaked out) so I thought I'd cut my losses and go home instead.

By rights I ought to a bit frustrated with myself, but I think I made the right choice.

Sydney is great to party in but the traveling is a pain in the butt. We travel 7 hours for about 5 hours at Hellfire. The one thing i love about the trip is seeing the sun rise over the rivers and lakes on the train ride home. Most people miss it because they're asleep, but it truely is magical.

Ascension shut at 2am, so if I'd got there at 1pm, I would have had 1 hour of fun for 7 hours of travelling!
