TV Fun

Yesterday my DVD muted itself. I tried watching a DVD from the library, and...

...no sound!

I can only guess that while I was away thunderstorms killed it, or damaged it badly enough that it couldn't be usable. Picture and no sound can be fun sometimes, especially if you do a "double take" with another sound source.ala "Hercules Returns".However, not what you want sound, and as it was also my main CD player as well, it's a bit annoying. = ANGRY=

However, I still have one Video recorder that still works fine, and another that doesn't play or record, but has a better tuner than either the other player or my TV. And I still have my 200+ vinyl collection from the 1970-90s. Listened to some Van der Graaf Generator (gasp). haven't done that for an awfully long time.

Also, I discovered the following things are on TV and can be taped:

Samurai Champloo

Thursdays on SBS between 10pm and 10:30pm

Daria

Fridays on ABC between %:30pm and 6pm (season 4 I think)

Farscape

Tuesdays on Nine between 2am and 3 am!

Now THAT took courage to admit :)
What VDGG was it? I have a compilation on CD, H To He on vinyl and Aerosol Grey Machine on mp3...

It was PAWN HEARTS.

I used to play all their albums to death! Especially "GodBluff" and "H to He"

Don't know if they've reissued these on DVD yet. I have some Peter Hammil stuff too, though it tends to be very very dark and cynical.

VDGG were on Virgin, who were pretty conscious about releasing all their back catalogue on CD. Pretty much all the VDGG albums should be on CD somewhere (along with at least some of Peter Hamill's stuff).

Hiya... I was kinda looking over [livejournal.com profile] hopeforyou's shoulder when she was reading [livejournal.com profile] queeraustralia and I saw your name. So hello, from a blast from the past.

Regarding your DVD player, if it's not under warranty, it might still be worth getting repaired. A lot of people assume it's always cheaper to just replace a faulty appliance but that's a false assumption; it's worth at least getting a quote or two.
