I despise and detest telemarketers regardless of who they work for Had someone from my bank wanting to sell me insurance, and someone from my phone company wanting to sell me a "bundle". It doesn't matter if the product is economical or not. What matters is that they destroy my concentration and focus.
This morning the Telstra guy (with an accent I could barely understand) was trying to sell me a bundle that may or may not be cheaper for me to use. I currently pay about $28 / month (after discounts) for the phone line and $60 / month (after discounts) for a 50Gb ADSL2 access to the internet, so that's about $88 a month. This was affordable when K was paying 1/2 the Internet bill but that hasn't been the case for 3 months now. But trying to follow what he was saying over the phone was difficult, and I felt extremely pressured.
It came right in the middle of me doing my morning pages. Should have told them to FUCK OFF, but I felt a bit ill (still getting over the virus, which I received confirmation from the medical service today) and in fact lapsed into an anxiety attack/coughing fit in the middle of his spiel. I went into the next room and told him to phone back. It didn't helkp that my browser went on the blink the menu and navigation bars have disappeared in Firefox even though they're enabled). I staggered off coughing and feeling like death, and when I got back...
...he was still fucking there! I told him I'd had an attack and to call back in 2 hours.
As the tape was used for training, I hope they learn something.
You know, I wouldn't mind changing my phone/net stuff, but he wasn't really offering what I wanted.
