Hospital Visit

Visited an associate of mine today, in hospital. I won't say friend yet, because I don't really know her, but she went to Newcastle Neon for a while and when I heard earlier in the week (at the Agender meeting) that she attempted suicide I thought a visit was in order.
Don't get me wrong - I'm not the sort to turn up and try to "cheer them up". I hate that sort of shit, because it's all about "putting on a face" rather than genuine acceptance of feelings. So I went to listen, and give my shoulder to her troubles.
Turns out she'd stayed in certain "tranny hostels" in Sydney, just like I had back in 1997. And guess what - they're still the same loony hothouses they always were! We were able to trade stories about them. There was more though. She comes from a Catholic background, and when her family had heard that she'd returned to Newcastle here they sent a "spokesperson" to tell them that they were an embarrassed and request that they leave. Not surprised, but what absolute wankery on their part! Fuck them I say.
Sigh, why does so much hate and vileness get dispensed in this world in the name of religion?
