I took Pegasus for a walk this morning.
As we walked by Cockle Creek, we came across a dead dog. It wasn't far from the road to Teralba, and looked most odd. It was upside down and looked as if it had died in a "begging stance" (legs straight out back, and front, and head down), and frozen into that position. Fortunately a Wallaby hopped by just at that moment, and Peggy went after it, instead of checking out the corpse.
This is not the first time I've come across dead dogs while walking Pegasus. A couple of years ago we came across three dead puppies that had been left in a ditch not far from Holmesville. I guess the poor things weren't wanted. But there's a bit of mystery with the dog we found this morning. Was it hit by a car and then wandered off to die? Did it die at home, and then get dumped out in the bush like so much rubbish?
I guess I'll never know.
