Ouch!

I went to the Dentist at noon. I was expecting a simple filling but after an x-ray they told me:
  1. That it would have to be removed
  2. and that the gums would have to be cut to do so
  3. also, that the tooth two up from it would have to come out, and
  4. several others would need refilling.
Wasn't happy to hear any of this. I went there expecting a simple filling but now my mouth is a disaster area. I didn't have the tooth extracted, as it wasn't causing me any pain atv the moment. Instead, I had one of the others refilled, which only took 10-15 minutes.

But I'm angry at the Dental Clinic that sent me to the Dentist, because they set up one set of expectation, and I get another instead. Yes, I know the bloody thing(s) will have to come out, but I wasn't prepared for that this today.

Looks like a fun few weeks ahead - I think I'll have to cold turkey on sweets and chocklate, though it's probably much much too late for that.

Saw a terrible terrible film recently - King Arthur (extended version). The concept had merit - King Arthur as a hiustorical figure called Artorus (sp) who, as an exRoman soldier, leads the native Britons against the fierce foriegn invaders (Saxons). But...

  • I kept on feeling like the main actor was George Lazeby's son, or something
  • Saxons landed on the east coast of Britain, and as a consequence to that, did not have to fight vtheir way across Hadrian's Wall!
  • Roman soldiers (even auxillaries) didn't use long swords, rather they used short swords
  • Picts / Woads didn't tend to use the Long Bow
  • I'm pretty sure that Saxons didn't burn down everything that stood, and killed everything that moved - maybe the Huns or Mongols - but not Saxons
  • Any Saxon leader that acted like "Darth Vader" would lose the respect of their men pretty quick
  • The Pope did not run the Roman Empirer in 475 CE - there was still a Roman Emporer who did that (but not for much longer)

In short, the film was a crock.

So why watch it? Solely because Ioan Gruffudd was in it (drool, drool). He makes a better 'Hornblower' than Lancelot though.
