Gah

Fell asleep after Dr Who and woke up at 10:30pm (so I missed Stand Alone Complex). Feel a lot better. Maybe one of the things I needed was sleep. I know if I don't get enough sleep I go off the deep end.

Couldn't go back to sleep straight away though, so I coloured in another page of thudandblunder.

More dreams

Didn't get to sleep until after 3am last night (woke up around 8 this morning).

Anyway, before dropping off properly, I had a bewildering array of "half-dreams" go before me - you know the thing - strange fragments of scenes and stuff that never happened. But this morning I strongly remember two dreams.

Laura Meets the Devil

I'm in a narrow hotel room, and I'm younger and thinner. One end has a big glass window overlooking the city, and the floor is multi layered, being raised further away from the window. It's semi-dark and there seem to be what look like British gangsters hanging about, waiting for something to happen. A large (and I mean bigger than human) bald guy walks in. He's dressed in a grey suit and a striped tie. He sits down and says nothing, but looks at me inquisitively. One of the gangsters speaks in a Bob Hoskin's accent: "This is Mr Trick and he's prepared to make an offer on your soul. The going rate is $8 million U.S., take it or leave it.":

I tell them to leave it, and then the spokesperson says that they'd be prepared to forgo the usual interest payments as well. When I say it isn't much he tells me that with the world's population being so high, that the going rate gets devalued a lot. I give him a "are you kidding" look and then he says that he'll throw in a Romulan disruptor (from Trek) and tosses one to me. I look at it, adjust a setting and then throw it on the floor, where it explodes in a flash of light.

Then I'm running, having escaped out a side door. Some of the gangsters are following and shooting at me but in Adventure Flick mode they never hit.  I run through: a brothel with poster girls; a clothes shop with size clothes I can't wear; a garage where my car is; and then out into the street. I look up at the window in the hotel and Mr Trick is next to it, peering down at me. He doesn't seem pleased.

Laura films the Goddess

For some reason I'm directing a film about a minor deity who was followed in these parts. It must be filmed exactly where her old temple was, which is in Midland Social Security Office, where I worked 14 years ago.

I'm trying to film a sequence where the actress playing the goddess walk around a corner, but the staff kept coming out and interrupting this, or the clients come up to the actress and ask for blessings. Finally I get this done, and then I have to send out for a "sound take" from the lab. A gopher is sent, but threatened and bashed by bullies so comes back empty handed. I give the gopher sweats which he gives the bullies and they all keel over with food poisoning, and the he brings back the sound take.

Whew! Now those are what I call dreams.
