Stuff Up # 1
Aug. 11th, 2006 01:55 pmI missed my flight.
I missed it by 10 minutes, due to delays coming down from Newcastle. When I got to Central Railway station I phoned mum and let her know that I'd probably missed it. She phoned my brother Mark who rebooked it for a later flight. I'm now booked on flight QF51 Sydney-Perth. I board at 17:30 and arrive in Perth sometime around 21:00.
Whew! Mind you, nothing like when I missed my connecting flight from O'Hare to San Francisco. That was because of the Albany shuttle flight being delayed. In this case, I just stuffed up and misread the train timetable (DOH!).
Probably not hear the end of this from Mum, but at least I'm still going, and in any case the Funeral isn't until Monday.
I'm sending this from a net cafe in King's Cross. My mother told me that my borother said (er...) NOT TO LEAVE THE AIRPORT. However, with 4 hours until I board, and as the only food I've had today being Tomato soup and croutons (I thought I'd get fed on the flight), I needed to eat something. Could have eaten at the Airport, but once you're in, you're in, and the food there is more expensive.
Instead, with my all day bus/train/ferry ticket, I buggered off to King's Cross. Once I send this, I'm off to find something nice to eat; then go buy more socks at the underground COLES here and then go back to the Domestic Terminal.
Like I said last night - a long day.
