the day After
Aug. 15th, 2006 12:53 pmWent to Dad's funeral yesterday. I cried a lot.
They let us view the body in the casket. Mum brushed his hair back, and I held his hand. Mum and my brothers went back out to reception and I said a private goodbye. My cousin Cherry and uncle Steve were at the funeral. Haven't seen them for over fifteen years. My father was buried in Midland Cemetery, which is in anywhere but Midland now.
Today I'm doing a bit of shopping before having a late lunch with lee, and ex of mine. Haven't seen her for ten years, though we've traded brief e-mails, and spoken on the phone after 9/11 (when I was worried about her brother, who apparently is the only person in New York State not to have a radio or TV, so didn't even know about that).
Been to 78's and boughta cd and some zines. Since Dorrington's closed my new "tradition" is to buy a CD from 78's every time I'm in Perth (it was an early THE CHURCH album - Of Skins and Heart). Also discovered EMPIRE TOYS and bought a couple of comics and buttons. And just now, bought a really cool book about Graphic Novels. I was going to buy a couple of others about drawing fantasy worlds and digital manga, but I think I'll hunt them down in Sydney.
Tomorrow I'm going to visit my niece Mythanwy (Miffy). She's had a tough life with two bouts of leukemia and now with diabetes, and I want to encourage her to explore her photography. My other neice Sophia (Sophy) seems all set to enter the world of theatre production and design. I really hope she succeeds.
I might also meet Cathy tomorrow. She's coming to town for medication and chooks, but we'll see. I fly back to Sydney and then travel to Barnsley on Thursday. That'll be a l-o-n-g day too, and I may not get a chance to post again until I'm home.
It's been cold and wet over here, which is unusual for my trips to Perth. It gets cold and wet at Barnsley too, but that's home.
