Fucked again
Sep. 18th, 2007 09:42 amJust feel fucked this morning. My head's spinning again. Found a cushion all ripped up on one of the sofas, and a big poo in the craft room, and lots of kitty litter scattered all around. Don't know which animals have done what . Not happy.
Got to go out and do photos. Feel, crazy. Upset. Language is shuttin gown agin.
Shit shit shit.
Back from the World
Sep. 18th, 2007 06:45 pmWell, a productive but exhausting day.
I got to my stretch of road and took my pics. Shot over 140 of them. Have yet to see how they look. Tomorrow I might go back and shoot another 140 (and this time I'll have an extra memory card and spare batteries). Got to the uni and went to a Queer Collective meeting - first one I'd been to in a while. My head was spinning for most of it, and it was hard to keep focussed. Got to the library, got to ALDIs and Coles and got food and cleaning stuff for tonight (I need to clean up the front room, it's beyond a joke).
Got home, after a couple of bouts of diarrhoea, oh joy. My head is still spinning, though not as much as this morning. Kevin's coming down with the same thing. Fun round here for a while.
Feeling dumb
Sep. 18th, 2007 07:21 pmI didn't feel too well when I left home this morning. I felt "dumb", after some more comprehension problems. It may be that this horrible rotten flu just makes it hard for me to focus or concentrate. Either way it's not a nice feeling.
Anyway, after I took my photos I caught a Sugar Valley bus to the uni. There was only one other passenger until Wallsend and we got to talking. He (his name was David) saw a poster for a election hopeful Greg Combet on the side of the bus shelter and said "He looks like the Doctor" and yes, he meant Dr Who.
Um, OK, they were both wearing a suit and wore specs. Not sure if there was any other connection. I suggested that Combet looked more like The Master, which cracked him up. David then went on to talk at great length about Dr Who in general, and speculate on the whereabouts of the Master's TARDIS. Despite David's problems with verbal expression, I really enjoyed the chat. I also pointed him to Maitland Library if he wanted to borrow old episodes of Dr Who.
I'm glad I met David this morning. I've been upset that the intermittent cognitive problems were "making me dumber". After chatting with David, who was obviously intellectually disabled, I didn't. And I know that sounds sort of wrong, but although David was intellectually impaired, he had an organised life (he told me about a dentist he'd gone to for over 20 years) and genuinely happy. And I guess also it shows me just how popular the character of "The Doctor" really is.
Still feel fucked, but not as badly.
Dr Who / Torchwood
Sep. 18th, 2007 07:47 pmAnd while we're on the subject, I didn't think that the penultimate Dr Who episode for the current season wasn't that bad. Granted, not much happens other than background atmosphere (and lots off running, which always tends to imply padding) but as part one of a two parter, nothing was going to get resolved much anyway. The Master's origin seemed, well, anticlimactic. The Valiant seems to be a "steal" of either S.H.E.I.L.D's Hellicarrier and Captain Scarlet's Cloudbase.
I am starting to notice a pattern with penultimate episodes - so far they all seem to end with vast swarms of invaders. In the first season it was DALEKs, in the 2nd DALEKs and Cybermen, and this time around, Terrahawks - um the Toclafane.
Also, has anyone noticed the Christian influence in the Torchwood episode End of Days? I mean, OK, the villain of the episode Abaddon was taken from a Bible reference, but consider - Captain Jack dies to save the World, and is then resurrected, and then mysteriously disappears after having established that he's alive - sound like any Messiah you might have heard about?
