I've been watching my way through Northern Exposure, one episode at a time, in sequence (just like I have with Buffy, Angel and Babylon 5). The local library has all six seasons of it, and although sometimes I've had to wait a little while for the next set, it's been worth it. I find watching a series like this (with maybe 1-2 episodes a day) very calming for me.
Anyway, just watched Jaws of Life from season five. The McGuffins of the episode are Maurice getting a wax replica of himself, Chris discovering that he might live after 40, and a visit to the town of a travelling dentist. It was all about aging and what we expect of ourselves (seems to be a theme for the season), but the dentist but hit home for me.
In general, I just don't brush my teeth. Cant say why. When I lived with other people I did, but the routine of brushing my teeth just got lost otherwise. But after 7 teeth out in the last few years, I really need to change that. When I was going to the ACT group as an exercise I set a goal of brushing them at least every second day and for a week I did. But I need to think about values and goals (that'll be another post) and make that an ongoing goal.
Hallie the Ox Hound
Aug. 1st, 2008 09:53 amKevin bought some cheap "Ox Livers" for the dogs.
It sat at the bottom of the fridge for a week. Yesterday I took them out the back to give to the dogs as a treat. It was rather odd - I came back in to talk with Kevin and when I went out they were gone - I though the dogs must have had a good appetite. Then I found both parts further up the backyard, untouched.
It seems that Hallie had run of with them and dumped them there. Whenever Bobbie would go up that way Hallie would cut him off and sit near them them. She'd also run up there if I said "Pussy's going to get Hallie's food!" This morning Kevin and Hallie were woken up early by a delivery, and the first thing she did was go up and inspect/guard the livers (not eat them, mind you).

Stayed Home
Aug. 1st, 2008 04:51 pmDecided to stay home. Glad I did, as everything turned very wet. the washing I put out earlier is soaked (the wind would have dried it) but it can sit there for a while.
Been working on web comics, and watching Lonely Hearts, an interesting film with good performance by the Travolta clan - there's no less than three of them in it - about a series of killings by con artists in America in the late forties, which looks like it was based on a true story. Gripping stuff, even though mostly it was a police procedural.
Anyway, time to draw more pages I think, and stay inside, dry and warm.
Oh, and I tossed Hallie's ox liver bits into the bus while she was inside with Kevin and Michelle. Better that way.
