[livejournal.com profile] curi_oz_wolf wolf sent me some links for the application for that library job. One thing led to another and, gasp - there's a Murdock University Library on Second life, based on the one in Perth, Western Australia. I wonder, is there a virtual Grant Stone as well?!

Followed another link from there as well to Themiskyra...

...and finally to ABC Island. This is the same ABC Island that got flattened by 'griefers' a while ago.

I think it is that being just a little bit geeky myself, actually, I would expect to go into an SL library and be able to open a full-text book. And use two or three of my fingers as bookmarks while randomly and quickly going from section to section. Has it advanced to that point yet?

But of course even in the library you may become employed by, not everyone can actually even go in the building without help, let alone pull down a book and handle it with their own hands.

And you can! It comes up as a note however. Otherwise it redirects you to a web page.

I quite often read (when I read at all) using fingers as bookmarks, so I wouldn't be satisfied. (And lucky you gets to see the tiny handful of full-text books on both sides of the paywall that are presently online, while using SL!)

Both sides, right?...
