Fun times in parliament

I'm in NUSA at the moment printing out Blender documentation (I'm thinking of using it to do web comics with). Anyway, they just happen to have the radio tuned to the "debate" in the Senate about VSU. It seems that the government "gagged" debate by limiting discussion to 90 minutes (I may have some of the details wrong, but it's what I was told).
Natasha Stott Despoja was giving them hell! I had hoped that this would have been delayed until next year, but it seems that the vote is going to be taken anyway. While I'm for choice, I can't be for this. It will if passed, effectively eliminate many student groups and organisations. Education is hard enough without on-campus help. If this succeeds, the next step will be the wholesale replacement of those services by outside tender, and that will not be good.
The National's spokesperson is talking now. He seems to be saying that although the Nats have doubts and objections to aspects of the legislation, that they have to vote with the Libs because they're a coalition. Ho hum - if the Nats actually stood up and said NO, they credibility would increase a lot.
S'pose I'll find out by the time I get home.

Sadly the parts of me that have the artistic skills and imagination
are quite shy and come out rarely.

Date: 2005-12-15 12:41 pm (UTC)I downloaded a few sample Blender models the other day. Looked very impressive, but I bet there was heaps of hours behind each in learning.
