Had heavy thunderstorms here last night. They've just come back.

We get a few earthquakes over here too. I lived through teh Meckering Earthquake back in Perth, and Newcastle had an infamous one in the late 80s.

So, how bad was it?

5.3 which is a big deal for the UK. Biggest for half a century and a fair bit of damage in Lincolnshire/Yorkshire. One guy, a student, got a cracked pelvis when the chimney fell onto him in bed but otherwise no injuries.

The insurance companies are going to hate it!

I exeprienced 6.2 some years back in Tuscany and that WAS interesting!

5.3! Not bad. I did hear the tail end of that story about a chimney falling on someone on the radio, but didn't know the earthquake bit, nor where it was from.
