I've been working on web comics today, and have scripted the next six pages, and done the panel outlines for them (and I will get at least one page done tonight). Anyway, I didn't just want to do comics all day, so after I fed the pets I decided to refurbish a few whirligigs and chimes that were in need of repair. This proved easier done than said!

(Click on each image for a larger version)

This was the first wind chime I fixed. I've had this since 1994 when carol gave it to me as a flat warming present. Since then it's always been at where ever I call home, and is a symbol of my creative spirit. When it's not hanging up somewhere around the place, I feel less than happy (it's been in pieces the June Storms).

'Home' Wind Chime

Cheap Wind Chime

This wind chime doesn't have such a long pedigree. I bought it last year on special, but it too had been in pieces since the storms last year. Need to paint my house don't I?

This is the new whirligig that I bought the other month. Problem with it was that the wheel was held on only by a cheap plastic cap. That disappeared after the first strong winds, and I replaced it with some twisted wire today. Behind it is an 8 year old banana tree.

New Whirligig

Old Whirligig

This is the old whirligig. I kept buying new ones in a local discount import shop in Wallsend until it shut down after the 2007 storms. Haven't been able to find a decent replacement for it yet - do you know where I can?

I bought this the same time as I got the new Whirligig. It spins around, winds itself up, and the spins down. I'm easily amused aren't I? The old sofa behind it is where I'll sit with the dogs and read and/or listen to the radio, or just look up the back of the garden.

Framework

OK, this is a first attempt at putting an archway over the front gate. The vines should grow over it easily. Except it's not quite the right shape, and Kevin (student engineer that he is) reckons it won't hold the weight without reinforcement. It needs a  couple of steel bands apparently.

The bird shown here is a Major Mitchell's Cockatoo (or Pink Galah), named after Thomas Mitchell maybe. My grandparents used have one of these, and it would walk around their house saying things like "time for a cuppa!" and "'ello!" and if you sang to it, would dance for you.

Tree Next Door

This is the tree next door, to which the major Mitchell was singing, and getting replies from. I love the trees at my place, and in the neighbourhood.

Your house has a very peaceful feel too it.

Yay for getting things fixed and for getting so many web comic things done too.

Thanks!

Well, I'll probably only get 1 page done tonight (got diverted to 2nd Life for an hour or so) but the rest will be done soon.

lol. Yes, pets can make things interesting.

I meant the house in particular and the area.
