Well, wasn't that a ripper of an episode!

The whole season for m has pretty much been a "fans season". Most of the stories have been good, and featured ideas that hinge upon the Doctor (or a companion) being who they are. I can already imagine the fan fiction centring around Rose and the Doctor's clone.

Some I though odd, was that it looked like Donna was wearing the Master's ring in the final episode. It's unlikely to be the case, but it did look like it to me. How are they going to better this next season?

Next season won't be until 2010 so they have plenty of time to think about it!

We get four hour-long specials next year, five if they are not counting this year's Christmas special. Hopefully they will be good - looking forward to the Christmas one at least.

Yeah, as the above person said - There will be 4 specials next year, but no actual season til 2010.
I guess the specials will be good, but I wonder if he will have different companions for each :/

I hope not. Want a companion to stick around more than a year this time. Very disappointed Donna got dumped. From what I've read of the Christmas special though, that one at least is a one-off, almost certain.

... and I am just starting into a list of what I want from the show, which should really be a post in my own journal. Tomorrow.

Me too, I was actually liking Catherine Tate as his companion. I wasn't really a fan of hers until I saw her on Dr. Who. She was just great... Maybe they will bring her back, I can only hope.
I'm getting a bit sick of them changing companions all the time!

I think there's an "escape clause" for Donna, a way of bringing her back, if they want to. Also, and I probably got it wrong, but I was sure that was the Master's ring on her hand.

I will have to re-watch it. I tape it on Foxtel IQ & I still have it so I will double check and get back to you.

Wonder what you have in mind for that. It is not something I have put thought into, considering her 'written out, except in the unlikely event they want her back' - I figured they were just done with her for the show, so was just being cross with them for that.

"Also, and I probably got it wrong, but I was sure that was the Master's ring on her hand."
More than once I have seen this said. Making me want to go back and watch again to see. 'Course that would mean watching the Master episodes again to refresh.

Him and Donna, those are the two characters I am least happy at seeing written out of the show. The Master, well, he could be brought back easily enough, but I want specifically Simms playing him a while yet, not a regeneration.

Ah, I agree, but it probably won't happen.

The most likely means of getting the master back would be some form pathogenesis or maybe even a sort of "Hand of Fear" control thing. So one way they could bring both back would be if Donna (for a short time) becomes the Master! Far fetched I know and probably very unlikely as well.

But - this would fit in with Donna searching for the Doctor since she met him on her wedding day. Someone picked up that ring, and if she was trying to find him, then maybe she got there too late (for that season at least).

Bugger - this show has really grabbed me again! I love the writing. Image

Okay, I re-watched it. I couldn't get a good look at the ring, but do you remember at the end of season 3 someone with red nails picks up The Master's ring?
Do we know who that is?? Have I missed an episode where it was explained?

I watched the last two eps.
I loved it but I had missed a lot.
I only saw up to the end of the first season with Tennant I think.
I would like to catch up but it will take me a long time to download it all and not go over my download limit. I also would love to see Torchwood.

Though it looks like I've got a while to catch up if they're not doing a normal season next year.

I know Tennant is doing theatre at the moment. Hamlet with Patrick Stewart. I wonder if the break was because of theatre or theatre because of the break.

Good Heavens - you don't use Libraries at all do you? Newcastle library has several DVDs in stock, and Maitland had a very good (video tape) collection of the old series. haven't been out there for a while, but it might be worth checking out.

We used to go to the libraries all the time when we were living in town. Haven't been too much since we've been up here.
Though it was mostly for books. Haven't borrowed many of the DVDs.

I have trouble getting out while the libraries are open but also we have fines we need to pay before we can borrow more.

Yep, that's why there is a break in Dr. Who.

Is it just me, or does this latest Doctor bear more than a passing resemblance to Paul Waaktaar-Savoy from a-ha?

Thin, ill-kempt and plays a... ...hold on, the Doctor used top play a flute, but that got eliminated in "The Three Doctors".
