Well, not that new. In fact it comes from across the road and was going to be tossed out for community clean-up. However, I asked for and got it last week and Kevin installed it this afternoon. It's clear and has all the elements working, so that must be good. I put the old one (which, when we unplugged it, discovered a dead rat inside) on the verge where it promptly fell apart.

Actually, I just put a voltmeter between my range elements and the grounding plug of the mains AC supply. The reading was zero -- nada -- none. So the "tingliness" of your older range (and the newer one?) is really a little bit more interesting in light of the fauna found DEAD inside it. (I actually dragged out the voltmeter because I realized most or all my pans and things have insulated handles, and I really might not feel a tingle if by chance there were an appliance insulation or wiring mishap or something here.)

Yes, it's a but of mystery. Kevin suggested that it was the elements themselves, in which case I now have a spare set I can use.
