Flying Cars

When I was a kid, I used to watch a puppet show called Supercar:
The big gimmick about Supercar was that it could fly. I was reading Where's my Jetpack and apparently there are flying cars in production now! Namely the
Moller M400 SkyCar:
How economical it is, and how long it'll be in production for, I don't know. Here's a video of it :
Whatever next? Maybe a consumer jet pack, personal helicopter (gee that reminds me of the Whirlibats from the Batman comic), a real hoverboard, or walking machine.

Date: 2009-04-05 01:56 am (UTC)There's actually a backpack helicopter in the Smithsonian (do you remember the ads for the old Action Jackson toys?). It worked well enough, but human legs make lousy landing gear.

Currently it's at 500 thousand dollars us(!), and an eventual come-down to 60 or 80 k? We'll see!
Seems like some entrepreneurs getting into rental operation would be the first realitically viable use by any of us peons...
