Crowded Day

laura_seabrookHad fun today. I took Karl on a driving lesson, only it lasted four hours and he drove 85 km. We drove up to Maitland just for the hell of it, with a detour via the suburb where his parents are building a house. When we got to Maitland we visited the Regional Art Gallery, and also the Library.
The Art Gallery had a bronze statue of John Howard, dressed up as a WWII digger, but in an oversized uniform. Apparently it'd been on the news but I must have missed that. Good for a laugh.
I found out that I could become a member of the Library, even though I live in Lake Macquarie, because both councils are part of the Hunter Valley. I joined, bought a library bag and borrowed a few items. They had a strange video about Daleks, and a Steeleye Span CD I hadn't seen before.
Must go back to Maitland for a better look. It's been a while since I was up there last and much has changed. I must do a tour of the op-shops, and take my camera with me.
On the way back we went to Kurri Kurri library as well. I didn't join but Karl did, and I found a photo of a bus that I was looking for, to use in a comic I'm working on.
Fun day, but when I got home I discovered I'd missed a 2pm appointment with my endocrinologist. Bugger. Oh, well, tonight will make up for it -- I'm off to see "Van Helsing" with some of the Necropolis Crowd. Should be fun, and an excuse to dress up.
