When I got home from TAFE today, just after 5pm, I found that there was a power blackout. (again). I played with Peggy, fed all the pets, and after a bit of reading (while there was still light) had a very early night. Got woken up by a phone call from Bill, who I hadn't heard from in quite a while.

It seemed a 4-wheel drive drove over his mobile, and he had only just found my phone number. After the call, it was just after 11pm, and not feeling that sleepy I decided to go for a drive. Sure enough, all the suburbs up to Glendale were blacked out, including two sets of traffic lights. However, the shopping centre at Glendale was still lit up, so I went for a very late shop. Chatted with the checkoput people in Coles and Woollies. Seems everyone who's been coming in has been commenting about the blackout. Some suburbs have been blacked out since 9am on the previous day!

Bought myself a camping neon light, a portable radio and an assortment of stuff (including some D cell batteries) and went home, just after midnight. I couldn't get back to sleep, so I set up the light and radio in my bedroom and read some more of a book I'd wanted to finish by Friday.

Now I only just decided that I'd read enough, turned off the radio and light, and started to drift off, when exactly at that moment, the TV in the bedroom comes on! I'd turned it on earlier in the evening so that I'd know when the power came back on. But the timing - well to come on within 30 seconds of my turning things off - how's that for a coincidence?
