Well, I never got to Necropolis tonight. Seriously, I got dressed twice and just felt like I didn't have the energy to get out the front door, let alone drive coherently.

The first time I tried dressing up in an old Mega City Judge's costume from Judge Dredd -- one that I made back in 1989 for a Swancon in Perth. After checking it out, I realised that a) it needed a lot of work to be presentable (and also to be altered for Psi division style), and b) that Necropolis (despite the mvie being shown the previous night) probably wasn't the best venue to display it.

Second time around it was just a lace top with a lycra cover, neat little skirt with fishnets and boots. And I was still feeling stuffed. Mind you, with blackouts over two consecutive nights, and being out late last night at a friend's, no wonder I just feel off. I know better than to go out like this, even if it is a band night there.

Still, pity about the costume. I had a lot of fun making it, and I wore it to the convention's masquerade. A friend of mine made a 1:1 scale replica of the Lawgiver -- the judge's gun. There was a bit of a stink at the judging at the time, in that I didn't win anything for the effort, but that the actual winner gave me the prize out of disgust. It seemed that none of the judges there (ironically) had never heard of Judge Dredd!. Still, so far as I know, there are no photos of me in the costume. Maybe if I update and repair the costume, I'll take some myself this time.

Yes, I'm a big fan of the stories and the character. A lot of people hated the 1995 film, but I think it did a good job of capturing the feel of the "Judge Dredd Universe", and Sly Stallone was good casting, since the part of Dredd didn't need too many emotions or much acting!

I will get around to revamping my costume.
