TripleJ HACK Interviews
Dec. 6th, 2012 03:11 pm
Hack, TripleJ's current affairs program, is featuring a segment in 15 minutes about a local youth forum that was held in SL. From what I heard in the promo, they thought there might have been a problem in that the forum was for 15-20 year olds and it was thought that they couldn't log in if they were under 18.
I suspect that the Teen Grid was used, but as I've never been there I can't be sure. If you miss the live podcast, you can always hear it again in the weekly archives (see right left on the Hack page for Friday).
Heard this on Hack on TripleJ yesterday (at about 6'28" in), and was rather disturbed by it. Apparently there's legislation in Federal Parliament to increase power of the ACCC. If passed, the legislation, would allow the ACCC to take court action and seek compensation for losses incurred by third parties affected by boycotts, such as a potential customer or supplier (see ACCC powers to be bolstered). According to a Sydney Morning Herald article, "no free-speech defence is immediately available" in court; the in the TripleJ segment David Marr said (at about 16'35" in) that the two exemptions from being sued will be if it's about either a) for health reasons, or b) the environment.
Huh? I can see problems here, can't you?

Hack on Triple J just had a segment about Cowra Abattoir. Seems they also have a gallery page of this, complete with audio and stills. A bit shocking if you've never thought about where the meat you eat comes from.
