Went to the "TAFE Alumni" luncheon today, the first I'd been to in almost 6 months. It was at the
Delaney Hotel in Darby St. I spent over $20 on food and drink, and loved it. It was good catching up with people as well. On the way back, I went to the
Newcastle Region Art Gallery, and
Watt Space as well.
A really outstanding installation at the NRAG was
rea: gins_leap / dubb_speak. This was a multimedia presentaion, drawing from the experiences of four Gamilaraay (idigenous) women in regional New South Wales. Quite powerful.
Wasn't sure what to make of
the current exhibitions at Watt Space. I'd seen slides of two of these at the Honours Seminars I go to. Um, they seemed less impressive in "real life". However, I really liked the
I Doubt It’s A Drought by Alastair Ferguson. This is a collection of twenty drawings based on a poem the artist wrote. Lovedthe way it played with expectations.
All on all a good day, apart from the severe diahorea I had coming home (oh well). Fortunately the shopping centre at Edgeworth has a good disabled toilet, but then, you didn't need to know that.
