Geekiness Shows up!
Oct. 6th, 2008 06:38 pmI just found a link to some software that creates maps, called AUTOREALM.
Apparently the main use is in creating maps for role playing, and it looks like it also generates hex and square map overlays (cool). However, with at least one web comic that has the occasional map, I can see other uses too.
What a neat idea!
Google Mapping
Apr. 25th, 2008 11:42 amI felt like playing a bit today (which is why I'm bothering to post anything).
I was watching episodes of Northern Exposure and was curious if there was a real Cicely in Alaska. There isn't, but I did find an Arrowhead St in Sitka (Arrowhead Burrough is where Cicely's supposed to be). This is a port on an island, but it also reminded me of Albany, Western Australia, where I lived for a while (always liked Albany) - pronounced "Al-bany", not "All-bany".
Then I looked at my own place, Rainbow Haven (shown in Gray, above). The satellite image here's been updated since I last looked - it doesn't have my car in the driveway any more. Funny the things you can see from one of these. I never knew that number 40 had a swimming.

Barnsley -> Woodbridge
Feb. 26th, 2007 07:10 pmI was checking out the Location Link from the previous post and it all snowballed into a map that tells you how to get from Barnsley NSW, to Woodbridge, WA (my mum's house).
