I saw the Rocky Horror Picture Show last night.

It was a Rainbow Visions event. Normally I don't go to those, but I chose to this time. I haven't seen the film for a few years. I used to have it on video but that got given away. I remember when I first saw this, back in Perth in the mid 1970s. It was in "Hoyts 1", the same cinema in which I saw Star Wars for 13 times some years later, and it was on as a "science fiction double feature" with Phantom of the Paradise (a good choice). I remember seeing the film twice.

I was impressed, very I pressed at the time, not so much with the main character Frankenfurter, but with the line in the song: "Don't dream it - be it". Didn't do anything about my own situation for 20 more years though (sigh).

It was a good event. A few years ago the West Wallsend Workers Club had a Rocky horror video night. It was part of a series they had, others including a Hawaiian night with an Elvis Video. Anyway, I turned up (post-op) dressed as Magenta, wearing a maid's outfit - I won $50 for the best costume. That wasn't hard though because only one other person had come in costume. The rest were just pissed and bored with the video. I also coped a crack of "It's a male!" from one drunken client. Is it any wonder I never went back?

Anyway, the event last night was well done. Lots of folk dressed up, and we each got party hats and a film pack, which included toast, bubble makers and newspapers and noise-makers. Good fun, as the crowd in general joined in. Some pics from the event:
