A visit to my Dietician convinced me that I'm going to have to make exercising daily a top priority, even above the Masters stuff. Otherwise there's a good chance of severely declined health, such has heart attack or really bad problems in my right leg (where I can't walk).

Things I can do to fill this gap might be:

  • Daily walk (without a dog, so I can pace my self);
  • Swimming in a local pool;
  • Dancing at home (yes, I know it sounds odd, but when I went clubbing this kept my weight in check); and maybe
  • playing games on a Wii or Kinect.

I mention the last one because Dick Smith  have a special on a Wii + Mario Cart & Controller just now for $128. Mario Cart probably wouldn't make me terribly fit, but there's also a Wii Fit Plus Bundle with Balance Board for $128. Don't know if that's a wii and the package or not, but it could be FUN, and maintaining FUN is important for me being able get in the routine of exercising. Also, on wet days I could do it at home.

Some months ago I tried a Kinect in J B Hifi. It was some silly thing where you pilot a raft down a river but to play properly you had to jump around. At the end of the session I was sweating a lot but I also enjoyed that. So maybe that's an option as well. The Kinect is a plug-in for the X-Box so I'd have to get one of those as well. It'd be more expensive initially but my understanding is that the thing can monitor one's whole body, rather than the bit connected to a controller.

In either case, I'd probably set these up in the Studio, where the floor's solid! Just an idea. What do people think?
