I was going to backup, reformat and reinstall yesterday. Whatever lurgi I caught from Queer Collaborations was at full strength - headachey, shoulder muscles ache, and a rasping cough. Best not to do so if I'm "not all there".

Been waking up in the middle of the night wheezing. Last night was the same, though slightly better. I watched 30 minutes of TV before dozing off to sleep (or near sleep again). As I watched Entertainment Tonight (on at the early hours of the morning) and they had a mention of Dead Man's Chest, I kept on dreaming of Captain Jack Sparrow. As that character's played by Johnny Depp, not a bad thing at all.

Heard a reason NOT top get a mobile phone yesterday - mobile Spam!

Apparently there are special services which you can subscribe to that use a "199" prefix on their numbers. Every time you accept a call from those numbers, you pay money for the message. Now that's fine if you actually subscribed to the things in the first place, but apparently some companies have got phone lists of numbers and send the messages out unsolicited.

Seems that once you accept/open the message, you must pay for the call whether you wanted them or not, anywhere between $3 - $6 each! The way around this is have your mobile provider bar the number from making calls to you, though if I know spammers, they'd just change the phone number to something else and do it again, like e-mails.

At least with dud e-mails, I'm not obliged to pay $$$!

There was a Four Corners segment last night about how supposedly, we've reached the 50% mark on oil reserves, and that from here on it's going to get progressively more and more expensive, which I almost watched (OK - I fell asleep off and on all night).

Not bloody surprising, considering the rate at which it gets used, and the stuff it gets used on. One more reason to sell my car some time later this year. There will be difficulties after it's gone, but for the most part I should be able to manage with a $2.50 bus pass.

Just hope that doesn't go up.

Found a neat web comic called Digger about an anthropomorphic female Wombat...

Digger

...I haven't read much of it yet, but the artwork is wonderful and the story seems very natural in flow.

I had to go out today to return some library books (and pick one up) so I decided to do a bit of shopping, and also to shop around for "granny trolleys". I'm sure there's a better name for these things - they have a rigid frame with a handle at top, and wheels at the bottom, with a big shopping bag attached.

I envisage that I'll need two of these things, and then do smaller amounts of shopping more often. If I still have $2.50 bus tickets, it'll all be part of the trip. I already do this to an extent, doing a "pet food run" and a "me food run". It's all a matter of planning.

Gasp - I'm starting to feel older and older. I always associated these things with old age pensioners. Still, if it works, I should do it.
