I had the most terrifying dream last night, so much so that I woke up from it at 4am. What was the dream?

I'm attending a wedding party and some of my cousins are there but I don't see either my mother or brothers. My father (deceased) is there however. The wedding is held in an open field in tents only some of the tents seem to be seeing stuff like hand sewn blankets and dream catchers and stuff. I ask about these but everyone I ask seems to assume I'm "looking down" on their craft. The couple get married but I have no idea who they are or why I'm at the wedding. Afterwards I leave in my station wagon (which I sold for $50 in 2007) and my cousin Brian seems to be in the drivers seat with me and someone else in the passenger seat and it's really awkward to drive.

The car is just about to run out of fuel and I pull over into a driveway in front of some shops and am invited in buy a woman who gives me tea. I return to the street to discover my car is gone and am told that "they needed it to move house". This angers me enormously because no one asked me first. I'm so angry that I go to a set of markets in an alleyway on the other side of the street where they're selling stuff like what was at the wedding. I grab a crowbar and start smashing objects and set fire to things, punching out people and dragging them by the hair into the street and throwing them into traffic.

When I get back to the shops my cars still missing and no one seems to know what I'm talking about or knows the women I talked to before. I start walking up the highway to home, and the soles on my shoes disintegrate and people passing shoot guns at me and spit on me. And finally I spontaneously combust.

I have no idea what this means, but it seemed to strike a chord in me when I woke. Have not been sleeping well lately. Or rather I lose energy early in the night, and wake up in the early hours of the morning. Last night I watched an Is It Real? TV show on Bigfoot which was amusing, to put me asleep. Blah

Sleep

Have odd sleeping issues at the moment. I fell asleep just before 830pm last night. Woke up at 2am and couldn't get back to sleep, so I watched an episode of THE DOME which I'd taped. Still couldn't get to sleep and watched some Conan which did the trick. Didn't wake up until after 8am (when I usually wake between 6-7am). Had very little motivation to get out of bed.

Saw my G.P.  He thinks that the pain in my knee is only inflammation, and I have packets of IBProfen now to help reduce that.  Wss going to ask him about the lurgi I have but he got a phone call and said that he had it as well to whoever it was calling! The symptoms are:

  • clogged head;
  • mucus film at back of the throat;
  • queasy stomach (especially on buses); and
  • a cough (though I don't have much of that); and
  • lack of energy.

No cure and taking antibiotics would be pointless. Just rest and recover. Also with the knee, try not to upset it until it heals. Hmmm. Was more or less OK walking Bobby this morning, but we stayed on the streets and didn't cut through the bush. Still sore though, all the time. And last night my sleeping was all over the place. I fell asleep while watching Dr Who and woke up just after it'd finished (about 8:20pm). But I couldn't keep my eyes open so I went to bed. And then woke up just after midnight, and couldn't get to sleep until 3am. Crazy dreams about cybermen heads. Had trouble breathing unless propped up or way on my side.

not so hot

Yesterday things were, well not right.

I went out for food shopping but ended up going into town looking for a 2nd hand (or affordable) student chair. The old one I have just doesn't hold my weight that well any more. There was a bit of running about , from office works to a place that sold $200-$400 chairs that certainly WOULD hold my weight, but in the end I got a 2nd hand one from the salvos for $35. Not the most comfortable but certainly the the most sturdy.

Got it back home via a couple of bus trips but felt really ill on the way home. It was a warmish day yesterday and I may have been overdressed and too warm. Have a chicken salad roll for lunch at the chip shop but by the time I got home (at 2pm) I was feeling sick, giddy and tired. I had planned to do more scripting in the afternoon, but when I booted the Studio PC one of the hard drives was mysteriously "off-line" - all the aprtitions were there but listed as "healthy primary partition" by the Windows Management app! Likewise booting to Linux showed that they were online but inaccessible! I realised that I was not up to sorting this out just then, and trying to was likely to bring on a disaster by trying to fix the wrong thing. I shut it down and went to bed.

Woke up about 6pm. Not quite refreshed. The PC had fixed itself after Windows did a CHKDISK on all the missing partitions! Watched a Dr Who repeat and a bit of Fantasia (bought the DVD of it last week) but couldn't keep my eyes open after the 2nd segment. Dozed off until 11:30pm, had a toilet break, and then slept until 6am. Not feeling the greatest this morning, but today it's really very cold here. No danger of falling asleep, and I have Bobby with his jacket on and under a blanket.

But it's a worry when I feel ill for no particular reason. When I got home I had the shakes, felt giddy and my vision was slightly blurry. Better today. Some of the symptoms reminded me of the food poinoning last year - hope it wasn't the chicken roll from the shop - but I felt sick on the bus as well.

The last two weeks I've been retiring to bed by 8:30pm at the latest. Been feeling exhausted for no particular reason. Did that last night, thoigh I'd been out all day and had good reasons (after counsellor and G.P.) to feel exhausted.  But I couldn't satay asleep. Did the worse thing you can do when you can't sleep - jump on the computer and browse the net / LJ / Facebook.

Then I went on Second Life for a bit. hadn't done that - without a purpose like making webcomics - for some time. There was a friend or two I went looking for, because SL is a lot more fun with friends, but they were "sleepwalking" in SL. That is, logged on but either AFK or had fallen asleep at the other end. Sigh. Made an abortive attempt to go dancing, but my heart really wasn't in it. Read the last volume of PLUTO which was satisfying, and then (at about 3:45am) finally fell asleep. Slept in to 7:30am, which is unusual for me, and had the weirdest waking dreams.

I know that deep down (or really, just under the surface) the cause of all this is HUGE ANXIETY over my Masters confirmation. It's next week, and I feel "behind schedule", at a loss, and lost.

Exhaustion

Went out yesterday for a number of errands. Left on the 7:30am bus and was back at 4pm. But was so tired, and my right knee and ankle were aching badly. Managed to stay awake until 9:30 and then woke up at 2:40am. Not a good sleeping pattern.

Saw DESPICABLE ME today. Maybe saved my sanity (for today at least). Identify with main character (I too built a rocket when young and was ignored). Made me laugh, which is very important (and the 3D was well done).

Am going to have dinner, and go straight to sleep. I NEED IT - only got 3 hours sleep last night. Tomorrow is EEG test and I want to be more togetehr for that.

Long Sleep

Felt exhausted by 7:30pm last night. Slept (with one toilet trip) until about 5:40am this morning. I then discovered that Hallie was lying next to me on the bed, and that she'd a) managed to push through the cardboard repairs made on the connecting door to the kitchen (one of its glass panes was broken), and b) a big poo in my study!

Despite this, this morning's been relatively good. K & M are still not back from their camping trip with her parents (I was expecting them back last Monday) but I'm sure they'll be back before uni restarts. I will have some video footage of the pups later today (forgot I had video on my camera) .

Didn't have much sleep Monday night, and yesterday was a long day. I slept last night from 8:20pm until 2:13am, watch 30 minutes of tv and then slept until 5:30am this morning. Feel washed out and tired today. I think I will stay home until I feel up to going out. I can read and think while I'm home (and do more web comic pages / Hypergraphia stuff).

Insomnia?

Can't seem to get to sleep.

I slept for a while after dinner on sofa in the lounge with the dogs - I think it was the antibiotics that did it. Might login to second life. Not that such will put me to sleep, but seems right somehow.

laura_seabrook: (Default)

Saw this on Facebook. Sleeping better is a good idea for me!

Didn't sleep well last night. I think that chest infection is coming back.

I was going to go out and visit Jenn, and maybe do a little shopping today. I think instead I'll stay home and do nothing much. Also, staying away from too much computer monitors and TVs might be a good thing too.

Well slept

I was up until 3:30am on Friday night, and yesterday I took a nap at 3pm, woke up at 6p, mowed the lawn, had a bath and soup, and went back to bed. I think I fell asleep watching Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket. Strange dreams, but I can't remember any in detail.

I got Paint Shop Pro working again yesterday, and I think today should be spent mostly making web comics.

Feel very very washed out today, but that's to be expected.

Discovered that my electric kettle has died and I must boil water in either a pot or my old tea kettle (just as well I kept it). Tempting to go out and buy a replacement, but I think I'll stay home today and vegetate. I'm off to the G.P. tomorrow anyway (a postponed appointment), so that'd the right time to get one.

Kevin and Michelle aren't here either. Slightly puzzling but I'm making the most of it. :)

Woke up an hour ago with Bobby throwing up a hairball next to me, after a long sleep. 24 Hour Comic Day , which I got back from earlier, was great!

Didn't get much sleep Friday night. Barely caught the bus in the morning but everything else ran smoothly. There were about 6-8 of us at Twenty10 and I was only one of two people to get 24 pages down within the 24 hours. It was a really good event for my birthday. Chatting with others, or listening/watching films on the big screen projector (they played Serenity / Last Unicorn / Howl's Moving Castle / Aeon Flux and others) helped me stay awake. At one point I was going to crash after 16 pages but after changing in PJs and a 5 minute nap I was OK, and continued until morning.

Don't have the artwork yet - everyone's is being scanned in and hosted somewhere, but that'll get sent to me eventually.

The trip home was very long and tedious (being up for 30+ hours didn't help) including an hours wait at Woy Woy station after a goods train broke down at Gosford. Got home, found Kevin & Michelle weren't here (still aren't), fed the pets and crashed about 5pm - slept until 2am but I think I'll be going back to bed.

Was a good day, and I feel ready for my 52nd year. :)

Pet Bed

It was odd last night.

Bobby normally sleeps under the covers with me - cuddled up for warmth. Ebony used to do this all the time until Bobby arrived, but is starting to do it again when she's not stuck at the other end of the house (we close the connecting door between kitchen and lounge to dampen sound). She's started to go under the covers with Bobs - not always but more often. Once I had Ebony on one side and Gabby on the other (Bobs was still sleeping with Hallie and Kevin). Pegasus used to sleep on the bed with me all the time, though I discovered that he'd do this until I was asleep, then sneak out to the backyard, and sneak back in to the bed before I woke up!

Last night I had Hallie on the left (under the doona cover), and Bobs on the right (under the sheet). Hallie was sleeping down my end of the house for one reason or another. A little while later Ebony sneaks in and cuddles up with Bobs. I don't know how long this lasted. I remember being woken up when Ebs took off in a hurry, and Hallie coming back to bed.

Funny, at least it was when I was half asleep. I had the weirdest dreams, but the only one I can remember involved Chewbacka playing a drum duet with his dead Wookie father.

So tired...

Slept from 1:30pm until 7:30pm when Kevin woke me up for dinner. I feel good, but time for bed.
