I screwed in some sheets of corrugated metal that I had to the run-down picket fence I share with next door - see below (that Peggy to the far right).

I may not be popular with the guy next door for doing this (it's always "don't touch my fence!") but in any case most of the railings at the bottom are starting to rot away. This should keep Peggy from going next door, or getting out, through this route.

Well if the fence is between your properties than you are both responsible for it and if they can't do anything then they can't really complain when you do.

It looks like it might fall down if you touch it!
And yes, it's not 'their' fence - Both are responsible.
Same kind of thing happened when Poppa needed a new fence, the nextdoor neighbours were funny about it but the old fence had many palings missing and it basically had it.
You done a good job though - Looks like Peggy won't get out of there in a hurry :)
