Tired of all of those surveys made up by high school kids?! Have you ever kissed someone? Missed someone? Told someone you loved them? Drank alcohol? Questions for the people who are a little older.

Quiz under cut )

laura_seabrook: (Default)
  1. Post ten (10 Only) pictures currently on your hard drive that you think are self-expressive.
  2. NO CAPTIONS - speak with images only and let us interpret your visual language.
  3. They must ALREADY be on your hard drive; no Googling or Flickr! They have to be saved to your folders sometime in the past and be something you've saved because it resonated with you for some reason. They can be of anything or anyone; family, friends, macros, maps, movie stars... anything that expresses you and your life or personality.
  4. Please tag as "Post Your Drive".
  5. You do not have to explain or answer any questions. You may if you want.
  6. This is an ongoing meme; like "Five for Friday". Post a round anytime you feel like it.

I did one of these early last year, but it's fun so I'll do it again.

  1. Go to "wikipedia." Hit “random... Read More” or click http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random
The first random wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.
  2. Go to "Random quotations" or click http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3
The last four or five words of the very last quote of the page is the title of your first album.
  3. Go to flickr and click on “explore the last seven days”
    or click http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days
Third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover. You can choose to go to http://www.flickr.com/groups/flickrsocial/pool/ if you prefer a more dynamic, less philosophical cover.
  4. Use photo shop, the gimp or similar to put it all together.

And yes, I know this is all a fantasy, but it felt really nice any way.

Out of the 7 days on this meme, I had two where I was utterly miserable, so I'm making it up with two extras.

Finishing Lux and Alby sign on and save the universe.

I bought this graphic novel a couple of months ago when I "ran away from home", down in a discount store in Liverpool. I had no idea what it was about at the time but it was cheap ($2.50) and looked like a fun read.

It is a fun read! Lux (in purple bike pants) and Alby (in goofy hat) are squatters in Brixton who inhabit a terraced house, along with Iskar upstairs and a bunch of Ishtar worshippers in the basement. Lux loves reciting his poetry and Alby is paranoid and loves his comic collection. They get involved in a fierce battle over the local squatters collective, and a battle over control of Nirvana.

It sounds air-headed but it is a lot of fun. There are heaps of other characters as well, sub plots and wild tangents, but it all comes together in the end. A Good read. Thoroughly loved it!

I forgot to post this yesterday (or was it the day before?).

Kevin figuring out how to (mostly) tune in my digital tuner with GB-PVR

...so this means I now have a proper media PC. TV eat

Up until today I've only had a small subset of local channels available to me. Yesterday it stopped working entirely, showing NO channels! What was the problem? It was too much signal for the tuner, so we attached the 4-way splitter and fed two leads to the tuner, one lead into the lounge TV and one to the TV in my bedroom. This attenuated the signal and both digital tuners are now working properly (with the exception that neither can find the TEN network, but maybe that can be added later). The TV in the bedroom now shows perfect analogue and digital reception.

This is the first step in setting up something more than just a set top box and DVD player, The next test will be to record this afternoon's episode of Corner Gas.

Also, I rather enjoyed watching I ♥ Huckabees.
" How am I not myself? "

Oh, and catching up with To Save Her

I've had a high fever today, and the above (with large gaps) too me 9 hours to do). I needed to do something, as it was driving me crazy, since the 21st of November. I really need to start drawing again, if only to keep me sane.

I got nothin' (I wish I did)

In fact, I had diarrhoea on a couple of occasion, including coming back from the chip shop and not quite making the toilet.  Also, the media PC stubbornly refuses to read network TEN and other fuck-ups. Not a happy day for me. I feel sick sick sick.

I'm sick of being ill. I've been this way since the 21st.

Your result for What Your Taste in Art Says About You Test...

Concientious, Fulfilled, and Spiritual

21 Renaissance, 15 Islamic, 14 Ukiyo-e, -17 Cubist, -34 Abstract and 0 Impressionist!

The Renaissance was a cultural movement that profoundly affected European intellectual life. Beginning in Italy, and spreading to the rest of Europe by the 16th century, its influence affected literature, philosopy, religion, art, politics, science, and all other aspects of intellectual enquiry. Renaissance artists looked at the human aspect of life in their art. They did not reject religion but tended to look at it in it's purest form to create visions they thought depicted the ideals of religion. Painters of this time had their own style and created works based on morality, religion, and human nature. Many of the paintings depicted what they believed to be the corrupt nature of man.

People that like Renaissance paintings like things that are more challenging. They tend to have a high emotional stability. They also tend to be more concientious then average. They have a basic understanding of human nature and therefore are not easily surprised by anything that people may do. They enjoy life and enjoy living. They are very aware of their own mortality but do not dwell on the end but what they are doing in the present. They enjoy learning, but may tend to be a bit more closed minded to new ideas as they feel that the viewpoint they have has been well researched and considered. These people are more old fashioned and not quite as progressive. They enjoy the finer things in life like comfort, a good meal, and homelife. They tend to be more spiritual or religious by nature. They are open to new aesthetic experiences.

Anyway, here's the "good parts" version. S. Morgenstern wrote it. And my father read it to me. And now I give it to you. What you do with it will be of more than passing interest to us all.
