121003 EBONY Memorial

I feel absolutely powerless and ineffectual over this. I didn't know what to do, and by the time I did she was gone. That was confirmed by the fire brigade who used a device to peer into the drain. They saw her motionless body with one eye open.

The thing is - I went out three times last night to see she was. I couldn't see down the drain properly but I could hear her. I'd talk and she would meow back. The last time I went out her meow was very faint, and she stopped  meowing  entirely. When I went out this morning I though I could hear something, maybe. But I have tinnitus and it makes it hard to clear faint noises and a magpie's scream sounds like a cat's cry. :(

But this means I was probably there when she died. I couldn't get to her to rescue her, and  and short of ripping up next door's driveway there's no way for me to retrieve the body.

I had no reply as such to the email I sent on the 7th. However, a package post-marked the 8th arrived yesterday. It contained a very annoying security lock and a proper manual (not, as one of them claimed, something they'd downloaded and printed). And that was it.

Kevin wants me to go to eBay about getting some money back. I don't want to do this until the end of the day, otherwise I'll never get the cleaning done.

With Kevin's encouragement, I just sent this to the seller on eBay:

I would like a partial refund on the electric scooter I paid for. After checking with the distributors I found it needs a new controller to run properly and checking the framework we saw it was riddled with rust. Also, the listing on eBay included a manual and a 'Rear wheel locked alarmed security device'.

I know you were going to post the manual, but the security device is also missing. This isn't the lock on the back tyre, it's a separate cable that comes with the bike. I have been very ill for over the last week and a half, or I would have responded earlier on this. With a flat back tyre and a battery with low charge, it was impossible to test at the time. The page for it reads "excellent condition", which is why I bid on it in the first place.

I would like a refund of $250 (I am open to negotiation on this) which will cover the cost of repairs on the bike to bring it near to the condition as advertised, otherwise I'll need to pursue other avenues to remedy the situation.

We'll see what happens.

My electric bike has arrived. This is what it looks like:

Scooter1  Scooter2

This was the worst possible time for it to be delivered. I'm feeling rather sick today, and have been unable to cope much, and losing my temper something fierce. Also, it's raining, so it was delivered in the wet. When it was delivered it had a flat back tire, and was less than fully charged. As they still had the thing for a week after I paid for it, I thought that a bit rude. Kevin was trying to test it, and said that "it felt like it had a clutch in the rear wheel", which isn't quite right.

Hmmm - not that I wanted to hear that. He phoned the local distributors and if there's a problem, it would probably be the controller, which costs about $70 to replace. Also, they didn't bring the manual (which was advertised on the eBay listing), but will post it to me. I'm really not up to dealing with this today (and is likely to be the only post from me today), so it's been put on charge and forgot about for now (when I'm better I'll pump up the tire and take it for a test ride). I just want to go back to sleep.

Surprised about the colour, but yellow's good for night riding. What to call her? Kevin thought of "Tallulah" (which means Abundance, lady, princess in Gaellic) - any suggestions?

They didn't check their e-mail until today, due to the fact that their five year old son had to be taken to Emergency with asthma attacks. Payment went through on Saturday, and the husband will phone me tonight to arrange delivery. I paid an extra $50 (which goes on trailer hire) so they'd deliver the bike here.

I won the e-bike - mine was the only bid!

Now all I have to do is pay for it and pick it up from Medowie.

BarnsleytoMedowie

Anyone out there with a vehicle able to drive it back to me?

I put a bid of $550 in for an  EazyRide KHS Commuter. That's about $50 more than I got the advance for, but this one's in Medowie. It's pick-up only, but with a range of up to 80km, I could ride it home.

There's just under an hour to go in the bidding...

[profile] mycosys should be back soon with his electric cycle, which he picked up from Sydney today. He phoned me earlier to say that he was eating at Glendale McDonalds, so it must work (otherwise, how'd he get there?).

I'm genuinely pleased for him, but still annoyed at myself for not getting the electric scooter yesterday. I might have got it, but we were both at Glendale doing grocery shopping when the auction on eBay closed. As we were on the bus home, I had this dark heavy feeling descend on me, and I knew that I hadn't got it. Sure enough, when I got home, I was right. I was extremely upset at the time.

A walk in the dark )

Guess too I'm pissed about the fact that I got a $500 dollar advance from Centrelink for payment, and now... ...I'm afraid I'll fritter that money away on crap and incidentals.

Bah!

About that scooter I bid for.

I didn't get it.

There's more to this, but right now I am extremely frustrated and disappointed.

I took Kevin's advice and registered with eBay.

Within the first 15 minutes I'd successfully bid on a 17" monitor for $7.51! The seller's in Carlingford, so I'm getting a friend in St. Clair to pick it up for me, and I'll visit them later.

Shit - eBay scares me, but good results within the first few minutes? Cool!
