Working my way through getting to and fro that Gig featuring The Church. OK, The Factory Theatre is sort of between Newtown and Marrickville as per this map.

If I ride my bicycle to the station, then these routes (via Transport Infoline will get me there. The one that leaves (from Cardiff) at 4:03pm and arrives at 7:57pm might be a bit too close, since the gig starts at 8pm, so the one that leaves at 3:48pm and arrives at 7:25pm will have to be the latest. Getting back, well these seem to work, though there;'s a big gap between leaving at 12:59am (and arriving at 4:23am) and 2:51am (and arriving at 6:29am).

Not riding the bike, going directly from and to home by bus gives different results. The latest I can leave is 1:49pm (arriving at 5:52pm!) and for coming back it's either leaving at 12:51am and getting home at 6:48am (with a 2 hour wait in Cardiff) or leaving after 4am from Marrickville!

The difference is that these pages calculate connected travel. The first set doesn't include time spent riding from Barnsley to Cardiff Station or vice versa. I have some time to think this over, but riding the bike's looking good. It'd simplify things if I was going with someone and staying with them that night, but that's not an option.

And of course I still haven't bought a ticket to the show yet - that's going to involve a trip to a Ticketex agency sometime today (can't do it over the net as no credit card).

Last Night

I enjoyed myself last night. It was fun.

Perhaps, instead of thinking of getting a petrol scooter, I ought to get a better bicycle. OK, it's not perfect and I will sweat and exercise a lot, but on the plus side, I'll sweat and exercise a lot.

Just an idea.

Installed the new lights on the bicycle, rode it to the Crossroads and caught my bus in. Hot and sweaty for a while but this is the university and no one's really bothered by that. Popped into NUSA and met one of the techies there who lent me the Ubuntu 8.10 distro (desktop) DVD. Cool stuff.

I have my seminar in an hours time,, and after that I'm off to the QC BBQ. :)

Feel a lot better just right now. Maybe because maybe this will work, and I'll have a social life off-line once more

I think I had too great fears - Epilepsy and the Dark.

I had epileptic seizures intermittently in my childhood, and regularly from years 8 to 18. It was something that just took control of my life. I've done a comic about this.

I had my fear of the dark well until I was 22. What cured me was riding home on my bicycle from a party held in Kalamunda after midnight with a friend. This was just after seeing Alien for the first time and it was still vivid in my mind. Haven't feared the dark at all since then, and often it seems like a friend.

Bus Talk

Met a 70+ old woman on the bus yesterday who was talking her dog to the vet in Wallsend.

We were chatting about pets and dogs and things and it was really nice doing so. Anyway, she has 10 dogs and two cats (who apparently keep the dogs in line) and rides her mountain bike all around Newcastle to visit friends. In decent weather she'd be out riding the bike.

Definitely an inspiration to me. Maybe I should be riding my push bike a lot more, and the electric scooter less.

They didn't check their e-mail until today, due to the fact that their five year old son had to be taken to Emergency with asthma attacks. Payment went through on Saturday, and the husband will phone me tonight to arrange delivery. I paid an extra $50 (which goes on trailer hire) so they'd deliver the bike here.

I won the e-bike - mine was the only bid!

Now all I have to do is pay for it and pick it up from Medowie.

BarnsleytoMedowie

Anyone out there with a vehicle able to drive it back to me?

I put a bid of $550 in for an  EazyRide KHS Commuter. That's about $50 more than I got the advance for, but this one's in Medowie. It's pick-up only, but with a range of up to 80km, I could ride it home.

There's just under an hour to go in the bidding...

Push-bike

I have a counselling appointment this morning at Wallsend Community Health.

Kevin fixed the breaks and gears on it yesterday and Sunday, so I'm going to ride my bicycle to Wallsend and back. Should be fun, could be interesting.
