Well, I just got a call from yet another Telstra marketing person who was "assigned to my case". I decided to hear her out (and fed the pets while listening) and it was a much better outcome this time around. After hearing what my usage was, she agreed that I had the right plan for both Internet and Home lines. I thought I did! That idiot on Friday was like a used car salesman, trying to sell me a people mover when all I wanted was a scooter. Anyway, that should be the last of it (for a while).

Ever get annoyed over telemarketers phoning you, but don't want to have an unlisted number either? Here's the anti-telemarketing EGBG counterscript that reverses the roles and really screws them up!

Also check out Research Experience - interesting...

Oh, and an NRMA rep called to see if I wanted to renew my road service membership.

After the obligatory "Is a Ms Laura Seabrook there? No, sorry, can I speak to Laura please." (I hate dealing with strangers on the phone) I pointed out that I no longer had a legal car to drive, she said that the call would be "monitored by her supervisor for quality purposes" and asked "if that was OK with me".

I said an definite NO! and that was that, she hung up.

I just had a phone call from someone hustling for ING Insurance.

Basically if I signed up, and had an accidental death, I could leave "up to" $1,000,000 in payouts to surviving spouse/relatives. The woman read out the long spiel, and asked at the end if I was interested. I said no, and then forĀ "feedback purposes" she asked why. The conversation then went like this...

me: I just don't see the benefit

tele-marketer(tm): Well I just explained how...

me: You see I've already had my accident in the past, so there's no point

tm: but what about leaving the benefits to loved ones or family?

me: ah, well you see, I've been suicidal in the past, and if I took on such a policy, then maybe if I got suicidal in the future, it might be enough to push me over, for me to want to arrange an "accidental death", so that others'd be better off

tm: (pause) I see, so "not suitable to requirements" would be the closest then?

me: I guess so

tm: thank you, speak to you soon [click]

Now of course I haven't been suicidal in years - just having a bit of fun at their expense - think they'll call back? *WINK*
