Oh, and an NRMA rep called to see if I wanted to renew my road service membership.
After the obligatory "Is a Ms Laura Seabrook there? No, sorry, can I speak to Laura please." (I hate dealing with strangers on the phone) I pointed out that I no longer had a legal car to drive, she said that the call would be "monitored by her supervisor for quality purposes" and asked "if that was OK with me".
I said an definite NO! and that was that, she hung up.

Date: 2007-02-23 09:55 pm (UTC)Say "Just a second, I just have to get something off the stove" and then leave the phone off the hook and turn the radio or TV up loud so that they can hear it. Then, do something else while you wait for them to hang up.
One thing telemarketers can't cope with is wasted time.
