Have not read the webcomics I've been following for a long long time. Might just catch up on that tonight.

Kukuburi

One very nicely drawn web comic is Kukuburi:

Another is Gunnerkrigg Court:

Story in Six Words

Not a meme! Actually, a very funny web comic page from an old ScaryGoRound based on a Hemingway anecdote.

Serenity Tales

Cool fan stuff based on Joss Whedon's abortive TV series.

Bite Me

Potentially cute vampire tale.

I just spent some time reading Girl Genius. As usual, comics makes a difference.

Time for a hot bath and then bed.

I just spent a while reading over 150 pages of To Save Her by Jennifer Diane Reitz (another story in her "Jenniverse"). The story's not finished yet, but I brought myself up to date, and there's less than 20 pages to go (they just haven't been drawn yet).

Anyway, nothing gives a really great buzz like ready a whole chunk of good web comics all in a row. I got that when I first discovered Venus Envy (and Erin Lindsey is drawing those again at long last!), Minus and Girl Genius - and I get it with this too. I've decided to do two things:

  1. create a bunch of Jenniverse avatars in second life (if I can do Daria, I can do Pastel Defender Heliotrope, Chou or Kaye Haychold, I'm sure); and
  2. more importantly - I must get back to drawing my own web comic regularly again!

It's been six weeks of not doing pages, with no good reason or excuse, other than a but of constipation with the plot. That never stopped me before. I don't care if I still have bloody bronchitis (though I feel much better), it's time to get back on the drawing table and have fun with it.

Gasp, I started reading the beginning of Pastel Defender Heliotrope last year, and now it's ended!

I might even consider getting the book, when it's out. I wonder if Dianne plays Second Life? The floating houses and areas in SL resemble the floating continents in her universes.

I swear this morning as I awoke, I had dreams of Pastel Defender Heliotrope! Seriously, everything was in the painted style that Jennifer Reitz uses to render it in. Also, it seemed that scenes would be interrupted "close ups" of the same scene, or images of obscure technical detail from those scenes.

I've been reading a lot of this strip lately, and also Unicorn Jelly. Odd that it should be so prominent in my dreams though! Disturbing that at the moment I just don't seem able to do my own strips (though hopefully this will change)..

Pastel Defender HeliotropeWell, I just discovered Pastel Defender Heliotrope by Jennifer Diane Reitz. Actually, I've come across some of her pages before, in other contexts, but this is the first I've seen of her comics and art.

Jaw drops...                                    ...wonderfully painted work. Haven't got far into the story yet, but looks very interesting. It also makes me think of (though I'm not quite sure) Dresden Codak.

Minus

Just discovered MINUS, a very "magical" strip. I like the description of it:

About the comic:

Each minus strip is painted on a 15x20" piece of Illustration board. With this comic I am pretending I am making a comic strip for a newspaper in the early 20th century. A special newspaper that lets me use as much colour as I want. I'm not much for comic strips so I don't know how long I'll be doing this one, so enjoy it while it lasts, I guess? It'll be updating every Thursday until I suddenly stop! Making comics on giant paper is pretty neat though. Yeah.

And guess what, the artist gets it right!

I love this web comic (as you can tell by my icon set)!

One of my favourite web comics, A Miracle of Science is now in print.

A favourite web comic of mine, A Miracle of Science, has just completed it's full run.

If you haven't heard of this one before, it's about "Mad Science" and runs 435 pages long. The story is well done and the art attractive - what more could you ask for? Start reading it at page 0.

I couldn't resist reshowing this (which is w-a-a-a-a-y old). Click on the comic to go to Cat & Girl's main page.
