I had occasion to find some photographs of a brick circle I made in my backyard.

I made it in 2001, just after Steve (a boarder) left and I'd fixed up the back fence and gate. I've done maybe a handful of rituals using it. However, now it's 2006 and it's mostly grown over...

...how time flies (though Pegasus still manages to get in most photos of the backyard).

Well, I heard today that I didn't get the Travel Scholarship.

Rather, I heard that I'd been "culled" from the applicants even before there was an interview. I heard this in general terms from the Honours manager (who was speaking to all the honours students) who said that the ones that "weren't academic enough" had been culled. My application was one of the ones returned. I'm annoyed over this in that it's been well over a month and there hadn't been any notice of what was going on. OK, now I did get to America this year so maybe I don't need it, but that's not the point. I'm also dissappointed to have not even reached the interview stage. Oh well, so it goes.

Other things that annoy me are that my endo (or rather his staff) have still not contacted me about another appointment, nor have I received any referral to a dietician at John Hunter Hospital. It's been six months now on the first, and nine months on the second. I was going to phone last Friday but forgot (I actually went over to Jenn's for the day). Now my GP gave me the name and phone number of a dietician that works for Hunter Health (i.e. free for someone like me on disability allowance) so the second is not that crucial. Annoying, yes.

Counter to the above is that I forgot about an appointment I had with an allergy specialist. It'd been postponed until last week, and I "discovered" the referral envelope on Monday, five days late. Don't know how I stuffed up on this one, but I did. Maybe it's a good thing because it would have costs me $280 upfront, with maybe 50% of that recovered later.

Oh well, these things happen.

Dropped into Wallsend Library this morning, on the way in to university.

This is the NEW library, the one they've been building for the last six months....

...WOW!

I was impressed. It's aleast four times larger than the old place in the ground level. It has way more stock, morew terminals, bright sunlit skylights (with baffles) seems much more organised (though anything would be better for the CD collection than what they had), and even has an art gallery.

Not only that, but I met Wendy there, who was supervising the volunteers who are there for the first few weeks. Wendy was one of my TAFE Library course teachers, and the one who tuted me in job applications. Now, OK, I don't actually have a library position right now, but her efforts were much appreciated.

I'll be back (said purposely NOT in the Terminator's voice)!

On Monday my GP suggested that I DON'T have a blown head gasket on my car.

His reasoning was that I wasn't losing any water, which I should if it was a head gasket at fault. He suggested that it was a slightly less costly oil seal.

Can anyone with car sense suggest whetehr this might be true or not?
